Hi again!

Hope you’re all doing well. This one is actually a proper blog post this time! In today’s blog we’re going to be talking about how to be more eco-friendly and it’s not as hard as you may think!

A lot of people think being more eco-friendly means that you have to live off the grid, eat dirt and become a hippy. I mean you can, but don't expect many to join you (unless that’s your thing of course), but I’m here to tell you some ways that you can be eco-friendly from the comfort of your own home! So let’s begin:

1: If you’re not using it, turn it off

Energy conservation is one of the most important things you can do to reduce your carbon footprint. Leaving your electricals on standby needlessly uses up energy – hit the off switch and you could see huge improvements, most noticeably in your energy bills!

2: Recycle EVERYTHING

Chances are that if you’re thinking about taking on a more eco-friendly lifestyle then you’ll already be recycling. But could you improve your recycling-ability (now a word)? You can recycle almost everything, from batteries to paper to cars. Before you throw it away, take a minute to find out if you could recycle it instead.

3: Support local businesses!

From clothes to food, the closer to home these products are made and bought, the less carbon is created with their transportation. Not only that, but you’ll be supporting the local economy which means that in time you’ll likely have even more local items to choose from. I’ll do a completely seperate blog post on this subject because its a very dear topic to me.

4: Grow your own

Growing your own veg isn’t just a good way to save money, it’s also a great way to cut down your carbon footprint and be eco-friendly. Don’t have any outside space? Windowsill boxes are a great way to brighten up your view, filter the air coming into your home and offer plenty of space for herbs and small vegetable patches.

5: Use a re-usable water bottle

Purchasing water bottles is a common practice - particularly in warm weather. However, a lot of water bottles end up in the ocean as a lot of people fail to recycle them properly. This results in a high rate of pollution in our oceans and the overall environment, as one plastic bottle will break down into 10,000 microplastic pieces over time - and this micro plastic solution is incredibly hard to clean up.

A solution to this problem is to invest in a water bottle that is not only reusable but also the right size, so you can take it with you whenever you travel.

Re-using a water bottle also saves money in the long run, as fewer plastic bottles will need to be purchased.

I hope these blog posts will start to help you on your way to becoming more eco conscious, help the impact of climate change.

I’m also happy to announce I will be a special guest speaker (I know, right? Me a special guest!) at the Eclonomic Action Team (EAT) community this Wednesday @ 6pm UK time! Here’s the link to sign up, it’s completely free! We will be discussing how I go into renewable energy, my life on social media and lots of other stuff!

I hope to see some of you there!

Peace ✌🏼
